About
I am Prof. Dr. Dirk Schieborn – mathematician, AI expert and Professor at Reutlingen University. My work sits at the intersection of mathematical theory, artificial intelligence and its application in the financial industry.
What drives me: the conviction that deep mathematical thinking and practical impact are not opposites – whether in research, teaching, consulting or on stage.

Research
My current research focus is on the application of artificial intelligence in bank risk management – in particular IRBA rating models and credit risk modelling.
In pure mathematics, in collaboration with the Sapienza Università di Roma, I developed a viscosity solution theory for Hamilton–Jacobi equations on ramified spaces (networks, LEP-Spaces) and published in several international peer-reviewed journals.
Music & Community
Music is more than a hobby for me – it is a second profession and a central means of social engagement. I play classical and jazz piano as well as keyboard and have been co-founder and keyboard player of the band Dropzone since 2003.
Since 2017, I have been co-founder, chairman and pianist of the non-profit association "Was uns am Herzen liegt e. V." (founded 2013), which organises charity concerts to support home-based paediatric oncology care (HOPPS) at the Olgahospital Stuttgart.
